During a particularly difficult point in my life, the idea of liver donation felt like something I needed to pursue. I didn’t have a recipient in mind. Much like blood donation, I simply wanted my liver to be given to someone in need.
This journal is a 3-part series that documents my experience as a living liver donor at Yale New Haven Hospital during the summer of 2017. This first part covers the decision-making process, testing and the time leading up to surgery.
